Waseca County 4-H Week 2010 - Events Schedule

Waseca County 4-H Week is April 10–April 17, 2010! Here is the schedule of events and details for each event:

Saturday, April 10th

“Let’s Get Growing” Adventure

  • 9:30 to 11 am
  • East Annex Meeting Room
  • Open to youth in grades K and up
  • No registration fee
  • 50 Purple Ribbon Club pts for attending

Needle Arts “Make & Take” Workshop

  • 1:30 to 3:30 pm
  • Extension Office
  • Open to youth grades K+, $3 per person
  • 50 Purple Ribbon Club pts for attending

Sunday, April 11th

Palmer Sunbeams 4-H Get Green Event - Archery

  • 1 to 2 pm
  • Fairgrounds - Commercial Building

Monday, April 12th

Cloverbud 4-H “Safe & Sound” Adventure

  • 5:30 to 6:30 pm
  • East Annex Meeting Room
  • Open to youth in grades K-3
  • No registration fee
  • 50 Purple Ribbon Club pts for attending

Tuesday, April 13th

4-H at the Library

  • 3:15 to 4:15 pm
  • Waseca Public Library

Wednesday, April 14th

Green Out Day - Wear green all day to show your support of 4-H!

  • Take a picture of you wearing green and post it on the Waseca County 4-H Facebook page or email the picture to dobbe007@umn.edu
  • People submitting pictures will be placed in a prize drawing (Drawing at Share the Fun on 4/17)
  • The winner will be drawn at Share the Fun on April 17th
  • 100 Purple Ribbon Club pts for participating and submitting your name and picture

Thursday, April 15th

Care & Share Day

  • Go to the Extension website (www.extension.umn.edu/county/Waseca) and click on “Care & Share Day Greeting Card - Waseca County 4-H Week”
  • Print the greeting card out, color/decorate it, and send it to a resident of one of the nursing homes/assisted living facilities in the county
  • Email Amy at dobbe007@umn.edu to let her know how many cards you sent and where you sent them
  • People sending cards will be placed in a prize drawing (Drawing at Share the Fun on 4/17)
    25 Purple Ribbon Club pts for each card you send when you email Amy your name, number of cards sent, and where the cards were sent to

Friday, April 16th

Movers and Shakers Day - Get an hour of physical play!

  • Have someone take a picture of you being active for an hour - post in on the Waseca County 4-H Facebook page or email it to Amy at dobbe007@umn.edu, along with how you stayed active for one hour
  • People submitting pictures will be placed in a prize drawing (Drawing at Share the Fun on 4/17)
  • 100 Purple Ribbon Club pts for participating & submitting your name, picture, and how you stayed active

Saturday, April 17th

BIFFER! Adventure Game

  • 3 pm, Clear Lake Park in Waseca
  • Will be cancelled in the event of rain/bad weather and/or if less than 15 youth register
  • Hosted by Waseca County 4-H Ambassadors
  • Register by contacting the Extension Office
  • 100 Purple Ribbon Club pts per participant

Share the Fun

  • 6:30 pm
  • Waseca High School Little Theatre

Teen Movie Night – “The Blind Side”

  • Will be held after Share the Fun (approx 8:30 pm)
  • Waseca County Fairgrounds
  • Shown outdoors, so dress appropriately
  • Bring a lawn chair and blankets
  • Snacks and beverages provided
  • In case of rain or cold weather, the movie will be shown at the East Annex
  • Anyone ages 13-19 can attend – friends of 4-H members are welcome!
  • $2 per person
  • 50 Purple Ribbon Club pts per participant, plus 10 bonus points for each friend (not currently enrolled in 4-H) that you bring

Week-long

Trivia Giveaways

  • Check the Waseca County 4-H Blog (http://4hmnwaseca.blogspot.com) and Waseca County 4-H Facebook Fan Page daily during Waseca County 4-H Week for 4-H trivia questions with fun prize giveaways

Medallion Hunts

  • Beginning Saturday, April 10th there will be a 4-H medallion hidden in Waldorf, Janesville, New Richland, and Waseca
  • Clues will be posted every morning by 8 am on the Waseca County 4-H Facebook page and the County 4-H Blog
  • Only 4-H members and their family members and enrolled volunteers are eligible to find the medallion
  • You can search for medallions in any of the towns – you don’t need to be from that town to find it
  • Only one medallion can be claimed per family
  • Prize for finding a medallion is a $20 cash award and a $5 gift certificate to the 4-H Food Stand
